MS Training Centre for Development Cooperation (MS TCDC) is a renowned Pan-African training centre based in Arusha, Tanzania. MS TCDC MOVE exists to strengthen social movements as powerful catalysts for justice, equality, and democracy. MOVE provides an ecosystem for movements to thrive through integrated capacity strengthening, core movement support, action research, convenings, and resources that foster solidarity and alliances.
About the Role
The Social Movements Support Intern will provide day-to-day support to the MS TCDC MOVE Hub team in implementing activities and delivering its mandate.
This internship offers a unique opportunity for a young professional or student who is passionate about social movements, activism, human rights, and feminist and decolonial approaches to development to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic, Pan-African, and globally connected environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Support MOVE Hub Activities and Implementation
- Support coordination and documentation of MOVE Hub activities and initiatives at MS TCDC.
- Assist in organizing trainings, workshops, and convenings, including logistics, participant communication, and follow-up.
- Contribute to preparing activity reports and internal documentation.
2. Support Partnerships and Engagements
- Assist in coordinating with ActionAid colleagues, movement partners, and allies connected to MS TCDC MOVE.
- Provide note-taking, follow-up, and communication support during partner meetings, working groups, and convenings.
- Support preparation of concept notes, proposals, and partnership documents where required.
3. Provide Administrative and Ad-hoc Support
- Provide administrative support to the MOVE Hub team, including scheduling, correspondence, and record-keeping.
- Carry out any other tasks as assigned by the LGA Head or designated supervisor at MS TCDC.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Political Science, Gender Studies, Human Rights, or a related field.
- Demonstrated interest in social movements, civic engagement, social justice, or activism.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a multicultural and team-oriented environment.
- Basic computer skills (MS Office, email, online collaboration tools).
Desirable Qualities
- Familiarity with feminist, decolonial, or movement-building approaches.
- Experience in volunteering, student organizing, or community initiatives.
- Interest in research, documentation, and knowledge sharing.
