Position description
Bulyanhulu Gold Mine is seeking to recruit a Survey Technician to join and grow its team.

Responsibilities
The Survey Technician will be responsible for the following duties:
- Ensure safe work practices, including:
- Attending compulsory safety courses and meetings.
- Using required personal protective equipment, PPE.
- Reporting incidents and accidents.
- Ensuring full adherence to all safety, occupational health, and environmental policies.
- Following all relevant policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Carry out development pickups and pickup processing.
- Ensure all fired rounds are correctly recorded to monitor the development trend of every active mining heading.
- Set up the DGPS Base system.
- Compile information in a system where it can be retrieved and used.
- Ensure all survey station reports and mine stakeout plans are filed correctly.
- Ensure all survey stations are positioned and placed correctly as directed by the Mine Surveyor.
- Conduct regular stock-taking of survey consumables to ensure the minimum required stock is always maintained in the survey store.
- Install grade pins.
- Install lasers and stations.
- Mark up holes, including EH and PH.
- Conduct face mark-ups.
- Set up instruments below station underground.
- Assist the Mine Surveyor in any task required for the maintenance of survey control.
- Number batteries of all electronic equipment and ensure they are charged correctly.
- Keep a record of the mandatory discharging process of all electronic equipment batteries.
- Conduct daily vehicle cleaning checks and report any defects on time.
- Liaise with the Maintenance Department when reporting defects and during regular service intervals.
- Conduct borehole surveys for production holes, including downhole and up-hole surveys.
Qualification requirements
Applicants must have the following qualifications:
- A Survey Technician’s Certificate.
- Technician certificate in any survey-related field, including:
- Geomatics.
- Cartography.
- Civil engineering.
- Mining survey.
- Experience working as a survey assistant in an underground mining environment.
Experience and skills requirements
Applicants should have the following experience and skills:
- Minimum of 2 years of working experience in underground mining surveying.
- Sufficient on-the-job training and working experience through other documented roles in underground mining surveying considered acceptable by company authorities.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of programs is beneficial.
- Sound practical experience in any conventional surveying method.
- Drone pilot license from TCAA will be an added advantage.
