Job Purpose:

The Project Officer – Child Protection is responsible for the implementation of child protection programs aimed at preventing and responding to violence, abuse, neglect, and exploitation of children. The role focuses on strengthening community-based safeguarding mechanisms, case management, and psychosocial support.

Key Responsibilities:

• Case Management: Oversee the identification, documentation, referral, and follow-up of vulnerable children, ensuring adherence to strict confidentiality and do-no-harm principles.
• Community Engagement: Mobilize and train Community-Based Child Protection Committees (CBCPCs) to identify risks and facilitate local solutions.
• Psychosocial Support (PSS): Coordinate the delivery of PSS activities for children and caregivers, including structured recreational activities and life skills training.
• Awareness Raising: Conduct awareness campaigns on child rights, abuse prevention, and reporting mechanisms for parents, teachers, and community members.
• Capacity Building: Train project staff and partners on core child protection standards and safeguarding policies.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate case files and contribute to internal reporting (CPIMS+ if applicable).

Qualifications & Experience:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Law, or a related field.
• Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of proven experience in child protection case management in a humanitarian setting.
• Skills: Knowledge of child protection laws, interviewing skills, psychosocial first aid (PFA), and community mobilization.
• Competencies: High level of empathy, resilience, and the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
