TPC Ltd is one of the respected sugar producing companies in Tanzania. The company is situated at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro, 22kms south of Moshi Municipality. Applications are invited from qualified, energetic, proactive, and dynamic Tanzanians to fill the following vacant position.

JOB SUMMARY STATEMENT:

Responsible for spatial data analysis and management across three key focus areas: Game Ranching (Namalok), Livestock Management, and Vegetable Garden operations. This role is technical and analytical, focused on interpreting geospatial and field data collected via digital tools, producing maps, and actionable insights to guide decision-making in planning and management.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS (DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES):

1. Game Ranching ²Namalok Nature Reserve

  • Analyse patrol and wildlife monitoring data collected by rangers using SMART and Gaia GPS to assess patrol coverage, wildlife distribution and emerging trends.
  • Conduct aerial surveys and patrols using a drone.
  • Use ArcGIS or QGIS to generate maps, conduct statistical and spatial analyses, and produce reports detailing patrol coverage, wildlife distribution patterns, hotspots, and trends.
  • Maintain geospatial databases integrating SMART/Gaia outputs and historical monitoring data.
  • Provide insights to support anti-poaching strategies, wildlife management, and ecosystem monitoring.
  • Systematically map and document areas of Interest such as wildlife corridors, high-biodiversity zones, water access points, patrol hotspots, cultural landmarks, and tourism sites to support strategic game ranching and conservation decision-making.

2. Livestock Management

  • Use AgriWebb, a livestock management software to monitor livestock performance, manage grazing cycles and pasture recovery, check performance against KPIs, improve livestock performance and pasture recovery rates.
  • Conduct spatial analyses to optimize grazing systems, rotational grazing schedules, stocking density and herd management strategies.
  • Generate interactive maps and reports showing pasture utilization, stock movements, and grazing performance to support decision-making.
  • Use AgriWebb to record, monitor, and report pasture irrigation activities in support of effective grazing and pasture management.
  • Manage livestock records and monitor animal performance using AgriWebb and Gallagher software to support effective herd management, animal welfare, and productivity.

3. Organic Vegetable Garden Management

  • Use Heirloom software to plan crop layouts, monitor field blocks, and track crop rotations.
  • Integrate Heirloom outputs with GIS layers for spatial analysis of planting schedules, irrigation coverage, and yield optimization.
  • Provide actionable geospatial insights to improve productivity and efficiency of vegetable garden operations.
  • Proper record keeping on pest and disease scouting.
  • Document and monitor soil fertility and salinity trends, including trends in soil life.

4. Spatial Data Management & Reporting

  • Maintain structured databases on key areas for Game Ranching, livestock management, and vegetable garden operations.
  • Produce professional maps, dashboards, and reports for internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure accuracy, consistency, and interoperability of spatial data across SMART, GAIA GPS, ArcGIS, QGIS, Agri Webb, Gallagher and Heirloom systems.
  • Keeping accurate records on the compost data.
  • Support the Land Use Planning initiative.

5. Technical Support & Innovation

  • Provide GIS and spatial analytics expertise to teams across departments, including support to the Land Use Planning initiative.
  • Recommend digital tools and workflow improvements to enhance spatial data analysis and reporting.

ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BSc in Geo-Information, GIS & Remote Sensing or other related technical fields.
  • Strong proficiency in ArcGIS, QGIS, and GPS data analysis tools (SMART, Gaia GPS).
  • Strong IT skills is a requirement.
  • Experience with Agri Webb (livestock management) and Heirloom (organic crop planning) or equivalent platforms is added advantage.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 2 years·experience in GIS, remote sensing and spatial data analysis.
  • Experience analysing field-collected GPS and digital monitoring data is highly desirable.
  • Experience with operating a drone is highly desirable.

  • Advanced GIS and spatial data analysis skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong proficiency IT skills.
  • Excellent communication, reporting and interpersonal skills.
  • Time management.
  • Being in possession of a Remote Pilot License (RPL) would be an advantage.
