Background

This role is focused on supporting corporate clients by analyzing credit requests, managing loan portfolios, and ensuring strong compliance with banking regulations, particularly KYC (Know Your Customer) and AML (Anti-Money Laundering) requirements. The Corporate Banker plays a key role in credit assessment, financial analysis, and risk monitoring to support sound lending decisions and maintain a healthy credit portfolio.

The position involves close collaboration with Relationship Managers and credit committees to prepare high-quality credit proposals, monitor client performance, and ensure effective portfolio management. It also requires continuous market intelligence gathering and financial analysis to support strategic decision-making and minimize credit risk exposure.

Responsibilities

  • Review corporate credit requests, including financial statements and credit information provided by clients.
  • Prepare credit applications for new facilities and renewals in line with credit policies (in collaboration with Relationship Managers).
  • Ensure full compliance with KYC (Know Your Customer) and AML (Anti-Money Laundering) requirements.
  • Maintain and update financial information on loan accounts, including covenants, spreads, and interim financial reports.
  • Monitor loan accounts to ensure no unauthorized overdrafts or facility excesses occur.
  • Conduct periodic economic and industry analysis to support credit decision-making.
  • Perform portfolio stress testing and self-assessments to evaluate risk exposure.
  • Recommend strategies to improve credit portfolio performance and risk mitigation.
  • Proactively monitor the credit portfolio to identify early signs of potential problem loans.
  • Review security documentation for corporate accounts on an annual basis.
  • Support preparation of accurate and well-structured credit reports for credit committee review.
  • Ensure consistency and quality in credit portfolio data and reporting systems.
  • Support adherence to internal banking policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Deliver high-quality customer service aligned with the bank’s service standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized institution in a relevant field.
  • Professional qualifications such as AKIB, CPA (K), or ACCA are an added advantage.
  • Master’s Degree in a business-related field is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in banking or financial services.

Experience Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience in sales (PB/BB/RB or Sales Management) – required.
  • At least 2 years of credit analysis experience – required.
  • At least 2 years of banking operations experience (cash, clearing, accounts, administration) – required.
  • At least 2 years of customer service or relationship management experience – desirable.
