Job description
World Vision is seeking to recruit an Agriculture Extension Facilitator to support community-based agricultural activities in refugee camps. The role involves community education, kitchen garden management, farm input facilitation, home visits, manure preparation, and regular reporting.
Major responsibilities
Community education on contextualized kitchen gardens in refugee camps – 35%
The Agriculture Extension Facilitator will provide community education on contextualized kitchen gardens within refugee camp settings.
Training and working with the community on kitchen garden management – 25%
The role will involve training and working closely with the community on the management of kitchen gardens in the refugee camp context.
Ensuring availability and application of farm inputs – 10%
The facilitator will ensure farm inputs are available and support the community in applying them properly.
Conducting supportive home visits to kitchen garden farms – 20%
The Agriculture Extension Facilitator will undertake supportive home visits to kitchen garden farms to provide guidance and technical support.
Facilitating preparation of inorganic manure – 5%
The role will include facilitating the community in the preparation of inorganic manure.
Weekly and monthly report compilation – 5%
The facilitator will compile weekly and monthly reports on project activities and progress.
Knowledge and qualifications for the role
Required professional experience
Applicants should have:
- Experience working with humanitarian operations and refugee programs.
- Experience in community work, particularly agricultural activities.
Required education, training, license, registration, and certification
Applicants must have:
- A degree in Agricultural Extension, Horticulture, Crop Production, Agricultural Engineering, or a related field from a recognized institution.
Preferred knowledge and qualifications
The preferred candidate should have:
- Communication skills.
- Self-expression skills.
