What you’ll do
Role purpose
The System Administrator: IT Data Centre Specialist is responsible for the efficient management, administration, and optimization of datacentre infrastructure and systems.
The role ensures the high availability, security, and performance of critical IT environments, including private cloud, Internet of Things (IoT), and big data platforms.
Key responsibilities
Systems deployment and automation
- Configure, deploy, and maintain IT systems.
- Use automation and industry best practices to improve operational efficiency.
- Support evolving technologies and infrastructure requirements.
Systems maintenance and monitoring
- Ensure the high availability of data centre infrastructure.
- Maintain optimal system and infrastructure performance.
- Conduct continuous monitoring and regular maintenance.
Systems security and compliance
- Safeguard systems by enforcing established security standards.
- Apply system updates and security patches.
- Address vulnerabilities identified through audits and security testing.
Business continuity and disaster recovery
- Manage system and data backups.
- Develop and implement disaster recovery strategies.
- Ensure system resilience and the rapid restoration of services.
End-user and operational support
- Provide technical support to end users and operational teams.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external vendors.
- Conduct root cause analysis to identify and resolve critical system issues.

Candidates should have knowledge and experience in the following areas:
- Systems administration and IT infrastructure management
- TCP/IP network administration
- Systems monitoring and performance analysis
- Server operating systems, including Windows, UNIX, and Linux
- IT service management processes
- Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
- Information security and compliance
- Load balancers, such as F5
- Basic telecommunications and power systems
Qualifications and technical requirements
Candidates should possess:
- A minimum of two years of experience in IT infrastructure and systems administration
- Experience in data centre operations
- Knowledge of centralized storage solutions, such as NetApp
- Experience with virtualization platforms such as VMware
- Knowledge of private and public cloud technologies
- Experience with containerization and Red Hat OpenShift
- Knowledge of relational databases, including:
- Microsoft SQL Server
- MySQL
- Oracle
- MariaDB
- Experience with operating systems, including:
- Windows Server 2016 and later versions
- Red Hat Linux
- UNIX
- Experience with hardware platforms, including:
- Knowledge of F5 load-balancing technologies
- Experience with backup solutions, including:
- Commvault
- Oracle ZFS
- Networker
- Basic knowledge of telecommunications infrastructure and power systems
