ofi is currently seeking a qualified and motivated professional to join its team as a Social Engagement and Sustainability Officer in Ruvuma. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about sustainability, community development, stakeholder engagement, and corporate social responsibility.

The successful candidate will support Aviv Tanzania Limited’s social engagement and sustainability initiatives by maintaining strong stakeholder relationships, promoting community development activities, ensuring sustainability compliance, and strengthening communication between the company and local communities. The role also involves acting as a key liaison between the company, workers, government authorities, and other stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain regular contact with both internal and external stakeholders to promote understanding of Aviv policies, procedures, and practices while providing necessary feedback.
  • Implement the company’s long-term sustainability plan in collaboration with local village development committees and government authorities.
  • Facilitate community mobilization activities related to sanitation facilities, hygiene promotion, and WASH initiatives in coordination with the CR&S team.
  • Integrate gender, human rights, HIV, environmental protection, and other cross-cutting issues into program design, implementation, and reporting.
  • Ensure activities address the needs of vulnerable groups, including elderly people, minority groups, children, and persons with disabilities.
  • Develop, review, and improve social engagement procedures to ensure compliance with internationally recognized sustainable practices.
  • Monitor sustainability initiatives and demonstrate the value and impact of social activities.
  • Serve as the focal person for implementing and communicating the company’s Grievance Resolution Procedure.
  • Manage and support effective village development committees within the designated areas.
  • Prepare regular reports and monitoring updates, including nutrition databases and other assigned responsibilities.
  • Identify and propose innovative initiatives to support the company’s sustainable agriculture objectives.
  • Coordinate company responses and analysis on issues raised by relevant government authorities.
  • Collaborate with employees and maintain effective communication with senior management.

Qualifications

 
  • Bachelor’s Degree (BSc/BA) in Environmental Studies, Sustainability, Certification, Public Relations, Project Management, Communications, Rural Development Planning, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Public Relations Officer, Environmental Officer, Rural Development Officer, Communication Officer, or in a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in researching, writing, and editing publications.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and email applications.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and deliver objectives within deadlines and budget.
  • Strong creativity, innovation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in stakeholder engagement and community mobilization will be an added advantage.
  • Qualified female candidates are highly encouraged to apply and will be given priority
