Quality Control Operator
What This Position Is About
Monitor the production process and control materials to ensure conformity to product specifications, and perform various material/ product tests during different stages of production. Make recommendations and follow up as prescribed in JTI Quality Standards.
Responsibilities or duties
- Collection and recording of samples for process confirmation and QA analysis as per JTI QA Manual, Quality Plan and Process Control (Physical measurements, visual control) as stipulated in JTI Quality manual and Quality plan.
- Timely provision of product quality feedback report at the end of each shift to the rest of Quality team and MP technical team in order to support proper planning of corrective / preventive actions.
- Investigate source of non conformities in line with QUIP procedure/Work instructions, Conduct Initial Problem Solving (IPS) and comply to Local Integrated Management System (IMS) and JTI Quality Management System (JTI QMS).
- Follow up Change Over procedure in pre-production, start-up, material tests, prototype activities to avoid NTM and blend mix up in collaboration with shift supervisors, machine operators and technicians. Ensuring Quality Trigger risk assessment and compliance to actions plan as per risk
- Ensure that all QC instruments are operational and calibration checks are performed as per instrument manual and relevant procedures. Report Non-conforming equipments to QC Technical Support and confirm product after machine maintenance.
- Perform proper inspection of all incoming materials from receiving warehouse before use at production.
- Conduct Quality Behaviour Observation (QBOS) as per QBOS standards and conducting dialogue for any unfavourable behaviours to ensure consistency product quality as per JTI QMS
- Perform data collection, recording, analysis and timely reporting for any allocated projects e.g. New Product Development, Process control, machine qualification, Equipment Calibration; using defined QC database.
- Responsible for care of the health and safety of yourself and of others.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
- BSc (Engineering/ Food Technology/ Chemistry and Biology/ Laboratory Technology and/ or any other equivalent qualification)
- Fluency in both written and spoken English and Kiswahili.
- Basic computer skills (especially Excel and Access)

2 years or work experience
