Background
The Biomedical Technologist is responsible for the installation, maintenance, calibration, and repair of medical equipment to ensure patient safety and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintenance: Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on medical devices (ventilators, monitors, lab machines).
Calibration: Calibrate equipment to ensure accurate readings and safe operation.
Quality Control: Test and evaluate new equipment before deployment in clinical areas.
Safety: Ensure all equipment meets electrical safety and radiation safety standards.
Training: Train clinical staff on the proper operation and care of medical devices.
Inventory: Manage spare parts inventory and report on equipment lifespan.
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering/Technology or Higher Diploma.
Registration with the relevant Engineering/Technologists Board.
Skills:
Strong electrical and mechanical aptitude.
Diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of ISO standards for medical devices.

- d. Hold a valid NIDA.
