AaP Consulting, a leading consulting firm, is seeking to fill the position of Accounting Associate. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing multiple client files and providing complete accounting, taxation and digital services.
Position description
This role requires someone who is organised, detail-oriented and analytical, can meet deadlines, and is comfortable communicating directly with regulatory bodies such as TRA, NSSF, WCF and BRELA.
Responsibilities
The Accounting Associate will:
- Review client record-keeping processes and prepare management reports.
- Provide guidance and advice to clients in relation to the reports and services provided.
- Complete bookkeeping for clients where applicable.
- Assist with the preparation of financial reports accordingly.
- Prepare and file statutory returns according to the provided standards and within stipulated timelines.
- Ensure all reports and returns comply with prevailing regulations and guidelines.
- Process the registration and documentation of new client businesses and companies.
- Handle correspondence, notices, audits, reviews and information requests involving TRA and other government offices.
- Identify accounting or tax issues and bring them to management with proposed solutions.
- Provide basic tax planning and advisory support to clients.
- Maintain organised client files and ensure all deadlines are met.
Skills and competencies
Candidates should possess:
- The ability to work independently and efficiently without constant direct supervision.
- The ability to multitask and adapt to changing priorities and duties.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and good analytical skills.
- Experience managing multiple client files simultaneously.
- The ability to identify ways to improve processes to enhance quality and/or outcomes.
- Proven ability to expect and solve problems.
Requirements and qualifications
Candidates must meet the following requirements:
- A degree in Accounting with Information Technology.
- At least one year’s experience in a similar role.
- Working towards attaining a CPA is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting and taxation.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Tally or Sage.
- Solid knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
