Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare work plans for mine grade control, sampling, and monitoring.
  • Assist geologists in ore delineation and blocking to minimize ore loss and dilution, providing constant communication and mentoring.
  • Ensure ore reserve and resource estimates are maintained with high accuracy.
  • Implement quality control practices to meet resource recovery objectives during project development.
  • Develop programs and reporting functions for timely cost and commitment forecasts.
  • Monitor the performance of drilling and other geology works contractors.
  • Collaborate with the Mining Department for site preparations and mining activities throughout the project’s life.
  • Work with the Mining and Process Plant Departments to ensure sustained project development.
  • Promote policies and procedures aligned with Tanzanian governing agencies and STAMIGOLD’s operating system.
  • Develop and promote a succession plan to support localization initiatives.
  • Assist the Chief Mine Geologist in optimizing ore delivery to the mill through effective pit mineralization understanding, grade control processes, and minimization of dilution during mining.
  • Act as the Chief Geologist in their absence.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Holder of a BSc in Geology or a related field from a recognized institution.
  • At least five years of experience as a geologist in exploration, mining operations, and gold processing environments.
  • Working knowledge of mine and geology software packages, as well as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, or other database software.
