Private Banking Portfolio Monitoring Manager (1 Position(s))

Job Purpose:To grow/improve and maintain Asset portfolio quality, timely clearance of Audit issues, loan documentation also collaborates with other departments to facilitate customer engagement platforms and other events with key stakeholders.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Take a lead and ensure Private Banking department maintains healthy credit portfolio with acceptable PAR and NPL levels, timely clearance of audit issues and proper loan documentation through networking with colleagues at branches, zones and Head Office Departments.
  • Advise Head, Private Banking from time to time on all aspects of the development of department risk management to ensure that each team member is well informed.
  • Provide leadership on strategy development by advising the Head, Private Banking on creative monitoring ideas in Private schemes, executive Loans and other unsecured lending facilities that will expand the scope of the portfolio and banks outreach in Private and Parastatals High end personnel value chain space.
  • Prepare periodical and ad-hoc reports relating to the assets, quality and others.
  • Monitor and ensure Private Banking loan portfolio is in good condition and within the acceptable risk levels.
  • Perform scheduled and event triggered reviews and identify all early warning signs timely
  • In consultation with other stakeholders, conduct thorough performance reviews of all credit related products and present comprehensive reports to appropriate forums
  • Follow-up and engage action owners to ensure timely and adequate closure of all agreed actions/issues
  • Assist Head, Private Banking in submission of accurate and timely reports to risk management forums, quality, watchlist committees, Credit Committee and other stakeholders (within agreed/specified timelines), highlighting performance against defined credit quality parameters.
  • Be credit risk champion in business process and give feedback to Head Private Banking from time to time to ensure alignment.
  • Provide motivational and inspirational leadership with peers and stakeholders and communicate clear performance expectations in relation to Portfolio Quality.
  • Assist Senior Managers as well as Relationship Managers by supervising, reviewing and clearance of all audit queries.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Sound understanding of Private Schemes and other unsecured personal lending products and services in the market.
  • Excellent knowledge of the private sector
  • Excellent knowledge of banking operations, regulatory requirements, procedures and financial markets in Tanzania.
  • Self-motivated, innovative with ability to initiate and lead change.
  • Excellent communication (English and Kiswahili), numerical, analytical, report writing and presentation skills
  • Managerial and leadership skills
  • Strong interpersonal and networking skills for both internal and external customers
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment with minimum supervision

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Holder of a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, finance, accounting, banking, economics, business and other relevant fields.
  • Master’s Degree will be an added advantage
  • At least 4 years’ working experience in business, credit, monitoring, inspection, audit, SAM and/or related space
  • Experience in building and developing high performance teams.
