Hygiene Specialist

Job Title:

Department:

Reports To:

Hygiene Manager

Job Summary:

The Hygiene Specialist supports the implementation and monitoring of hygiene, sanitation, and food safety standards across the beach resort. The role conducts inspections, maintains hygiene records, supports employee training, and ensures that operational areas consistently meet required cleanliness and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct daily hygiene inspections across resort operational areas, including:
    • Food production kitchens
    • Restaurants and bars
    • Guest rooms and public areas
    • Staff dining and welfare facilities
    • Swimming pools and recreational areas
    • Beach and outdoor facilities
  • Monitor food safety practices, including food storage temperatures, labeling, expiry dates, and handling procedures.
  • Verify cleanliness and sanitation standards in guest and back-of-house areas.
  • Ensure employees follow personal hygiene requirements, including uniforms, grooming, hand hygiene, and safe work practices.
  • Maintain hygiene checklists, inspection reports, and corrective action records.
  • Report hygiene issues and follow up on corrective actions with relevant departments.
  • Assist with hygiene training and awareness sessions for employees.
  • Support HACCP monitoring procedures and food safety documentation.
  • Collect and maintain hygiene-related records, including cleaning schedules, pest control reports, and inspection logs.
  • Assist with internal hygiene audits and regulatory inspections.
  • Monitor proper use, storage, and handling of cleaning chemicals and sanitation equipment.
  • Support investigations of hygiene complaints and food safety concerns.
  • Promote a clean, safe, and healthy environment for guests and employees.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Food Safety, Hospitality Management, Public Health, Environmental Health, or related field.
  • 1–3 years of experience in hygiene, food safety, quality control, or hospitality operations.
  • Knowledge of HACCP principles and sanitation procedures.
  • Experience in hotels, resorts, restaurants, or catering operations is preferred.
  • Good observation and reporting skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with different departments.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays when required.
  • Basic knowledge of hygiene inspection tools and documentation systems.
