Role Summary:
The Logistics Officer is responsible for the efficient and cost-effective coordination of the supply chain. This role manages the flow of goods from suppliers to warehouses and customers, including transportation, warehousing, inventory management, and customs compliance. The ideal candidate is a problem-solver who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Transportation Management: Coordinate and schedule inbound and outbound shipments with freight forwarders, carriers, and shipping lines. Negotiate rates and select appropriate transport modes (air, sea, land).
- Inventory Control: Monitor inventory levels, conduct cycle counts, and reconcile discrepancies to ensure stock accuracy. Manage inventory turn and prevent obsolescence.
- Order Fulfillment: Oversee the picking, packing, and shipping process to ensure on-time delivery (OTD) to customers while minimizing errors.
- Warehouse Operations: Supervise warehouse activities, including receiving, storage, and dispatch. Ensure the warehouse is organized, clean, and compliant with safety regulations.
- Documentation: Prepare and manage essential shipping documents (Bill of Lading, Commercial Invoices, Packing Lists, Certificates of Origin) for domestic and international shipments.
- Customs & Compliance: Ensure compliance with import/export regulations and handle customs clearance processes with brokers.
- Cost Optimization: Track logistics costs (freight, warehousing) and identify opportunities to reduce expenses and improve efficiency.
- Tracking & Reporting: Use logistics software to track shipments and provide real-time visibility to internal stakeholders. Report on KPIs such as delivery performance and freight spend.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience: 2-4 years of experience in logistics, supply chain, or freight forwarding.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS). Advanced Excel skills are a requirement.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of Incoterms, transportation regulations, and international trade compliance.
- Soft Skills: Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to solve problems under pressure; effective negotiation and communication skills.
- Travel: Ability to travel up to 15% to warehouses or supplier sites.
