Background
ITM Tanzania is seeking a Workshop Supervisor to oversee all workshop activities, ensuring timely, safe, and cost-effective repair and maintenance of tractors, heavy machinery, and vehicles. The goal is to ensure maximum fleet availability and workshop productivity.
Responsibilities
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate daily workshop operations, repairs, and preventive maintenance programs.
- Allocate work to mechanics, welders, electricians, and helpers based on priority and skill.
- Monitor job cards, work orders, and repair timelines; ensure quality control on all repairs.
- Maintain workshop tools, equipment, and machinery in good working condition.
- Enforce health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards in the workshop.
- Manage spare parts requisitions in liaison with the Motor Store In-Charge.
- Conduct toolbox talks, staff training, and performance appraisals.
- Prepare daily/weekly maintenance reports for management.
- Investigate repeat breakdowns and implement corrective actions.
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma/Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field.
- 7+ years' experience in heavy machinery/tractor maintenance, with 3+ years in a supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, transmissions, and workshop procedures.
Skills & Competencies

- Diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
- Planning and scheduling
- Computer literacy (maintenance software, MS Office)
- Strong HSE awareness
