Job Description:

Department: Workshop

Job Summary:

The Workshop Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day maintenance and repair activities of tractors, heavy machinery, vehicles, and other mechanical equipment supporting the agribusiness and estate development project. The role will ensure effective workshop operations, high equipment availability, timely preventive and corrective maintenance, proper utilization of workshop resources, and compliance with required safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise daily workshop activities, including preventive maintenance, inspections, servicing, breakdown repairs, and equipment overhauls.
  • Coordinate mechanics, electricians, welders, tyre fitters, helpers, and other workshop personnel to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Monitor the condition and performance of tractors, heavy machinery, vehicles, and other agricultural equipment.
  • Plan and monitor preventive-maintenance schedules to minimize equipment breakdowns and downtime.
  • Review job cards, repair requirements, and completed maintenance work before equipment is released for operation.
  • Coordinate spare-parts, tools, and consumable requirements with the stores team.
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs, servicing, equipment downtime, and maintenance activities.
  • Diagnose recurring equipment problems and support the technical team in implementing corrective solutions.
  • Ensure workshop activities comply with occupational health, safety, environmental, and housekeeping requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior workshop personnel.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Plant Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant workshop or heavy-equipment maintenance experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong practical knowledge of tractors, agricultural machinery, heavy equipment, diesel engines, and vehicle maintenance.
  • Good understanding of preventive maintenance, mechanical fault diagnosis, workshop planning, and breakdown management.
  • Strong leadership, team supervision, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Knowledge of workshop health, safety, and environmental practices.
  • Ability to maintain maintenance records and prepare operational reports.
  • Experience within agriculture, large-scale farming, construction, or heavy-equipment operations will be an added advantage.
