Position Description
The Barrick Africa Middle East Team is seeking to recruit a UG Electrical Supervisor to join and grow our team.

Responsibilities
- Directly supervise electrical technicians, coordinate contractor activities, and ensure a safe working environment.
- Oversee the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and equipment, including high-voltage distribution, industrial control panels, and mine-specific infrastructure.
- Enforce safety protocols, conduct risk assessments and maintain compliance with relevant regulations.
- Optimize maintenance workflows using CMMS systems, troubleshoot complex electrical faults, and ensure 24/7 equipment reliability.
- Review engineering drawings, manage spare parts inventory, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- May be involved in training junior staff and developing cross-training programs for a multi-skilled workforce.
- May be involved in managing budgets for maintenance, materials, and projects.
- May oversee smaller electrical projects, including scheduling, resource allocation, and ensuring work is completed to specifications.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, including high-voltage distribution, industrial control, and mine-specific infrastructure.
- Proven ability to lead and motivate a team of electrical technicians.
- Thorough understanding of safety regulations and best practices in underground mining environments.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex electrical faults and implement effective solutions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with team members and other stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize work, and ensure efficient workflow.
- May require specific electrical certifications (e.g., Journeyman Electrician, Master Electrician) and relevant safety certifications (e.g., OSHA).
Qualification requirements
- Electrical Trade Certificate or Equivalent
- Diploma in Electrical Engineering or Trade Certificate Equivalent.
- Environmental Policy Awareness
- Mines Health & Safety Act Awareness
- Power Factor Correction and generators
Experience and Competencies needed
- Minimum of 5 years electrical experience on Sandvik/CAT mining equipment.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in supervisory role.
- Verifiable track record gained in similar diversified high-level portfolio
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of Electrical Management Systems
- Ability to consistently manage such a diversified portfolio in a high-pressure environment
- Highly professional conduct at all times and the ability to deal with a diverse client base.
- Significant base knowledge of all the areas depicted in the profile
- Must be motivated individual with ability to operate with minimum supervision.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Strong maintenance, project management and systems improvement related experience and background
- Strong technical and strategic planning related experience and background.
- Strong values in safety commitment, policy and enforcement related experience and background
- Experience with selection, Maintenance and operation of Electrical and Mechanical equipment.
- Experience in managing Infrastructure projects.
- Computer literacy is essential- Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook, ERP and MRPII packages (SAP, Ellipse, Pronto, Oracle etc.).
