Job Summary:
The Tyre Fitter will be responsible for inspecting, fitting, repairing, and maintaining tyres on tractors, vehicles, trucks, and heavy machinery used across the agribusiness estate. The role will help ensure safe equipment operation, reduce tyre-related downtime, and support effective tyre utilization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect, remove, fit, repair, and replace tyres on tractors, trucks, vehicles, and heavy machinery.
- Identify tyre damage, abnormal wear, punctures, and other tyre-related faults.
- Carry out tyre inflation, pressure checks, rotation, and basic wheel maintenance.
- Repair punctures and replace damaged tyres, tubes, valves, and related components.
- Monitor tyre condition and recommend replacement where necessary.
- Maintain records of tyre repairs, replacements, and condition as required.
- Ensure tyre-fitting tools and equipment are properly maintained and safely operated.
- Follow workshop safety procedures when lifting vehicles, handling heavy tyres, and using tyre-fitting equipment.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- VETA/Trade Certificate in Motor Vehicle Mechanics, Tyre Fitting, Automotive Mechanics, or relevant vocational training is preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of practical tyre-fitting and repair experience, preferably involving trucks, tractors, or heavy machinery.
- Practical knowledge of tyre inspection, puncture repair, fitting, removal, inflation, and pressure management.
- Ability to safely handle large tyres used on agricultural and heavy equipment.
- Basic knowledge of tyre wear patterns and common wheel-related problems.
- Physically fit and capable of handling demanding workshop duties.
- Good safety awareness, teamwork, discipline, and attention to detail.
- Experience in an agricultural, transport, construction, or heavy-equipment environment will be an added advantage.
