Truck Drivers
Job Purpose
To safely and efficiently operate company trucks to transport agricultural inputs, produce, equipment, machinery parts, construction materials and other authorised goods between farms, project sites, warehouses and designated locations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The Truck Driver will:
- Operate company trucks safely and responsibly.
- Transport agricultural inputs, farm produce, equipment, materials and other authorised goods.
- Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
- Check tyres, brakes, lights, oil, water and other basic vehicle systems before use.
- Ensure all cargo is properly loaded, secured and distributed before transportation.
- Follow assigned routes and delivery schedules.
- Load and unload goods safely where required.
- Maintain accurate trip, mileage, fuel and delivery records.
- Obtain and maintain delivery notes, waybills and other required documentation.
- Ensure goods are delivered to the correct destination and in good condition.
- Observe all Tanzanian traffic laws and company driving procedures.
- Drive defensively and maintain appropriate speeds according to road and site conditions.
- Report vehicle breakdowns, accidents, damage or mechanical faults immediately.
- Coordinate with farm, warehouse, logistics and operations teams.
- Monitor fuel consumption and report any unusual fuel usage.
- Maintain the truck in a clean and serviceable condition.
- Take the vehicle for scheduled servicing and inspections as instructed.
- Ensure company tools, documents and equipment carried in the vehicle are secure.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when dealing with clients, suppliers and members of the public.
- Assist with other transport and logistics duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications and Experience
- Valid Tanzanian driving licence appropriate for the truck category.
- Proven truck-driving experience.
- Experience transporting agricultural, construction or heavy materials is an added advantage.
- Good knowledge of Tanzanian roads and traffic regulations.
- Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Clean and responsible driving record is preferred.

- Strong knowledge of road safety.
- Reliability and punctuality.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and delivery schedules.
- Basic mechanical knowledge.
- Good record-keeping skills.

- Ability to work in rural, farm and construction-site environments.
Working Conditions
- The position involves frequent travel between farms, warehouses, project sites and other locations.
- The driver may be required to work early mornings, evenings, weekends or extended hours depending on operational requirements.
- The role may involve driving on paved, unpaved, rural and construction-site roads.
- Strict compliance with health, safety and vehicle-management procedures is required.
