Founded in 2006, One Acre Fund equips 5.5 million smallholder farmers to make their farms more productive. Across nine countries that together are home to two-thirds of Africa’s farmers, One Acre Fund provides high-quality farm supplies, tree seedlings, accessible credit, modern agronomic training, and a wide range of other agricultural services.
On average, this model enables farmers to increase their income and assets on supported land by more than 35 percent, while permanently improving their resilience. This impact is made possible by a team of more than 9,000 full-time staff drawn from diverse backgrounds and professions. To learn more, please see the organization’s “Why Work Here” blog post.
One Acre Fund’s Tanzania program was founded in 2013 and supports more than 100,000 farmers with quality farm supplies and fruit trees. The Tanzania team is headquartered in Iringa and supported by three smaller offices in Mbeya and Njombe in the southern highlands, and Moshi in the north, where the team is focused on expanding services to new clients.
One Acre Fund works in selected areas in the Iringa and Mbeya regions, with a growing presence in northern Tanzania.
About the role
One Acre Fund is seeking a high-energy, strategic Tree Supervisor to drive Agroforestry and farmer impact initiatives.
The ideal candidate should have at least 2–3 years of experience leading teams and ensuring that thousands of farmers successfully adopt and plant high-quality seedlings.
Responsibilities

- Partner with the Agroforestry Specialist to develop distribution schedules and contingency plans for both vendor-supplied and out-grower seedlings.
- Train temporary staff, Carbon Credits Officers, and farmers on best practices for seedling care, optimal planting windows, and safe handling during transport.
- Lead field mobilization efforts to ensure farmers are fully informed, prepared, and equipped to successfully collect their seedlings.
Data collection, auditing, and reporting
- Own team performance metrics and quality control measures, while immediately escalating operational risks to the Agroforestry Specialist.
- Conduct unannounced field audits to validate data, identify performance variances, and implement swift corrective action plans.
- Lead the execution of tree impact surveys, ensuring field teams meet strict data collection and backcheck targets.
- Review training materials and translate field insights, including successful farmer practices and recurring challenges, into actionable district training plans.
Team leadership and district culture
- Motivate and manage temporary staff and external stakeholders.
- Foster a workplace culture rooted in psychological safety, strong customer service, and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) values.
- Lead team meetings, build work plans, manage the performance tracker, and coordinate staff coverage to ensure seamless program continuity.
- Manage temporary staff needs and coordinate with the Agroforestry Specialist on hiring or data changes.
Financial sustainability
- Maintain strict mindfulness of budgets.
- Actively champion cost-control measures across all areas of field management.
