Job Summary
The Procurement/Commercial Specialist is responsible for leading procurement and commercial activities for renewable energy projects. The role ensures cost efficiency, quality, and timely delivery of materials, equipment, and services. It includes supplier management, contract negotiation, cost analysis, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and sustainability requirements.
Key Responsibilities / Duties
Procurement Responsibilities
- Source, evaluate, and select suppliers and contractors for renewable energy projects (solar, wind, hydro, etc.).
- Prepare and issue Requests for Proposals (RFPs), Requests for Quotations (RFQs), and tenders.
- Analyze supplier proposals for technical compliance, commercial competitiveness, and sustainability requirements.
- Maintain and update the approved vendor database and monitor supplier performance.
- Track procurement schedules to ensure timely delivery of critical project materials and services.
- Collaborate with engineering and project teams to define technical specifications and procurement needs.
Commercial Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts, purchase orders, and service agreements.
- Ensure commercial activities comply with company policies, renewable energy regulations, and international standards.
- Manage project budgets, monitor costs, and support cost-optimization initiatives.
- Conduct market analysis to identify trends, cost-saving opportunities, and emerging suppliers in the renewable energy sector.
- Support risk assessment and mitigation strategies in procurement and commercial operations.
- Assist in dispute resolution with suppliers and service providers.
Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure compliance with local and international renewable energy standards, including HSE regulations.
- Prepare regular procurement and commercial performance reports for management.
- Implement procurement policies and procedures supporting sustainability, ethical sourcing, and ESG principles.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years professional experience, including at least 3 years managing procurement/commercial activities for PV plants with an aggregate capacity exceeding 4 MW, with at least one plant above 4 MW.
- Strong knowledge of renewable energy technologies, equipment, and industry standards.
- Proven experience in vendor management, contract negotiation, and cost analysis.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical abilities and proficiency in procurement systems and MS Office.
- Knowledge of sustainable procurement practices and ESG principles is an added advantage.
Competencies

- Strong commercial acumen and budget management ability.
- Risk assessment and mitigation skills.
- High attention to detail and strong compliance focus.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
