Background
Enza Zaden Tanzania Ltd is a horticultural company that produces high quality hybrid seeds. The seeds produced are all exported to the mother company based in the Netherlands. After thorough quality checks the seeds are re-exported all over the world under the Enza Zaden logo.
Objective of the Role:
To supervise and coordinate pollination and emasculation activities within the assigned production area, ensuring that activities are carried out efficiently, accurately, and in accordance with required quality and production standards. The role will also provide day-to-day supervision of assigned teams, support crop management activities, identify and communicate operational or crop-related concerns, and ensure adherence to company, quality, hygiene, health and safety, and farm protocols.
Main Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate pollination and emasculation activities within the assigned production area, ensuring that activities are completed efficiently and to the required quality standards.
- Coordinate and guide assigned teams in the execution of daily production activities, ensuring appropriate workforce allocation, productivity, teamwork, and adherence to established work standards.
- Monitor crop and pollination activities, identify potential quality or production concerns, and communicate relevant issues to the appropriate management level for timely action.
- Support effective crop management and maintenance activities throughout the production cycle to promote healthy crop development and maintain required production standards.
- Plan and coordinate daily work activities in line with production requirements, ensuring that available labour and operational resources are utilized effectively.
- Maintain effective communication with the Assistant Pollination Managers and relevant teams on operational progress, emerging challenges, resource requirements, and other matters affecting production activities.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Diploma in Horticulture, Agronomy, Crop production, Plant science or a related field.
- Minimum 2–3 years of relevant experience in seed production, pollination, emasculation, horticulture, greenhouse production, crop production, or a related agricultural environment.
- Good understanding of agricultural production practices, crop management, pollination activities, and quality requirements within a controlled production environment.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise and coordinate teams, organize daily activities, allocate work effectively, and maintain productivity and required work standards.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with proficiency in English and Swahili languages and the ability to work effectively with employees and different teams.
- Basic computer skills and the ability to maintain and communicate relevant operational information and records.
