Join a growing and ambitious industrial plant maintenance team

We are looking for a skilled and safety-conscious Plant Mechanical Technician to join our maintenance team in a reputable lubricant blending plant located in Chang'ombe, Dar es Salaam. The successful candidate will support production by carrying out preventive and corrective maintenance activities, troubleshooting equipment failures, and assisting in the installation and commissioning of plant machinery.

Main Roles and Responsibilities

  • Inspect, service and repair industrial machines and equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and respond to machine breakdowns.
  • Maintain different types of pumps, especially centrifugal pumps, sliding vane pumps, gear pumps and associated equipment.
  • Maintain valves, piping, tanks and pressure-control equipment.
  • Repair and maintain conveyors, filling lines and other production equipment.
  • Perform mechanical fitting, machine alignment, lubrication and replacement of worn parts.
  • Carry out basic welding, cutting and metal-fabrication work.
  • Support the installation, testing and commissioning of new equipment.
  • Work safely with electrical technicians during combined maintenance activities.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, checklists and work reports.
  • Keep tools, spare parts and the engineering workshop clean and organized.
  • Follow Permit-to-Work (PTW), risk-assessment and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) requirements.
  • Report unsafe conditions, equipment defects and outstanding maintenance work immediately.

Job Requirements

  • A certificate, diploma or recognized trade qualification in mechanical engineering, industrial mechanics, fitting, welding or metal fabrication.
  • At least 1 to 2 years of relevant industrial maintenance experience.
  • Good knowledge of pumps and pump-maintenance practices.
  • Basic understanding of industrial electricity and electrical safety.
  • Practical knowledge of industrial machines, conveyors and filling lines.
  • Basic welding, cutting, fitting and fabrication skills.
  • Experience with bearings, seals, couplings, gearboxes, shafts and mechanical drives.
  • Good understanding of preventive maintenance and breakdown troubleshooting.
  • Must be willing and able to work overtime, weekends, night shifts, public holidays, and respond to emergency breakdowns or maintenance call-outs when required.
  • Strong commitment to health, safety, environment and quality requirements.
  • Ability to read basic equipment manuals and technical drawings.
  • Good recordkeeping, teamwork and communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn and work in a busy and ambitious factory environment.
  • Physically fit and capable of lifting, climbing, working at heights, and performing maintenance activities in industrial environments.
  • Experience in oil and gas, lubricants, manufacturing or processing industries will be an added advantage.

Remuneration

  • Monthly salary: TZS 700,000 - TZS 900,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
