Background

The Department of Zoology and Wildlife Conservation, in collaboration with Re:Wild and the Natural History Museum in London, through the project “Developing an Eastern Arc and Coastal Forest Biodiversity Centre for Research, Training, and Public Engageme

Responsibilities

i. To manage the care, conservation, and long-term preservation of wet-preserved specimens. ii. To maintain accurate catalogues and digital databases for the collections. iii. To ensure proper identification, labelling and documentation of all specimens. iv. To enforce health, safety, and regulatory compliance related to chemical preservatives and specimen handling. v. To organize and maintain appropriate storage and environmental conditions for the collections. vi. To manage specimen loans, internal access, and limited external use for academic purposes. vii. To contribute to collection development through ethical acquisition, donations, and exchanges. viii. To support exhibitions, outreach, and academic engagement activities involving wet-preserved specimens. ix. To prepare inventories and reports related to collection management. x. To supervise technical staff, interns, and student assistants assigned to the collections. xi. To create, manage, and maintain digital records for all wet-preserved specimens. xii. To digitize specimen labels, accession records, field data, and related documentation.

Qualifications

Holder of a Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Zoology, Biology, Wildlife Science and Conservation, Aquatic Sciences and Fisheries from a recognized institution.

Work Experience

Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply, provided they have demonstrated relevant experience through internships, research projects, volunteer work, or short-term engagements in working in related research fields. Prior experience of 1–2 years working in

Terms of Service

The position is offered on a contract basis for a period of one (1) year, renewable subject to satisfactory performance.
