Background

Mkulazi Holding Company Limited (MHCL) is inviting qualified and experienced Tanzanians to apply for the position of Instrumentation Artisan. The successful candidate will report to the Senior Instrumentation Technician and will support installation, maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of industrial instrumentation and control systems within processing and power generation environments.

The role requires practical technical skills in instrumentation systems, field devices, and process control equipment to ensure accurate measurement, reliable operations, and minimal production interruptions. The selected candidate will assist in maintaining instrumentation systems, PLCs, SCADA, and related control systems in compliance with safety and operational standards.

Key duties and responsibilities include:

  • Installing, testing, and maintaining field instruments such as pressure transmitters, flow meters, temperature sensors, and level indicators
  • Assisting in calibration and troubleshooting of control loops and instrumentation systems for accurate process control
  • Supporting inspection and maintenance of PLCs, SCADA systems, and instrumentation wiring
  • Performing routine checks, preventive maintenance, and documentation of instrumentation equipment
  • Assisting in installation and commissioning of new instruments and control systems
  • Supporting maintenance teams during plant shutdowns and start-up operations
  • Maintaining accurate records of instrument calibrations, repairs, and replacements
  • Ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards in instrumentation activities
  • Collaborating with electrical and mechanical teams to resolve cross-functional technical issues
  • Responding promptly to instrumentation faults and alarms to minimize production disruptions
  • Performing any other lawful duties assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications and requirements:

  • Level II or III Certificate in Instrumentation, Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or related field from a recognized vocational or technical institution
  • Minimum of two (2) years working experience in industrial instrumentation and control systems
  • Experience in sugar processing or power generation environments will be an added advantage
  • Basic understanding of instrumentation systems and process control principles
  • Ability to assist in calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting tasks
  • Good teamwork, communication, and responsiveness in industrial environments
  • Ability to work under supervision in a fast-paced operational setting
