Job Summary

CNS Group is seeking an experienced and hands-on Bush Clearing Supervisor for a large scale sugarcane estate development project in Morogoro. The role is responsible for planning, supervising, and monitoring all bush clearing and land opening activities on the estate, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, within budget, and in line with environmental guidelines and project timelines. The ideal candidate should possess strong field leadership skills, practical knowledge of land development operations, and the ability to manage large labour teams and heavy machinery in a demanding project environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute daily bush clearing operations, deploying machinery, manpower, fuel, and tools in accordance with the project schedule and land development targets.
  • Coordinate machinery operators including dozer, mulcher, and excavator operators, fuel supervisors, labour contractors, and mechanics to ensure smooth and efficient daily operations.
  • Monitor daily output in hectares cleared, track fuel consumption, and maintain accurate field records to support project progress reporting and cost control.
  • Enforce fire safety, PPE usage, and Occupational Health and Safety standards across all bush clearing activities and field teams at all times.
  • Identify and report protected tree species, water courses, and environmentally sensitive areas within clearing boundaries to the Land Development Manager promptly.
  • Coordinate closely with the Road and Drainage Supervisor along road reserves and drainage lines to ensure integrated and conflict-free land development operations.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports, certifying daily work outputs and ensuring all field documentation is accurate and submitted on time.
  • Account for all clearing tools, equipment, and consumables issued to the team, maintaining proper records and reporting any losses or damages promptly.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Certificate in Forestry, Agriculture, Natural Resources, or a related field is preferred. A Diploma is an added advantage.
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in bush clearing, land development, or forestry operations is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience supervising field labour gangs of 20 or more workers is preferred.
  • Ability to read survey maps, GPS coordinates, and clearing boundary plans is recommended.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and labour management skills are recommended.
  • Basic knowledge of fire management and controlled burning procedures is recommended.
  • Ability to use smartphones or tablets for field data capture and reporting is recommended.
  • Large scale estate or agribusiness experience is an added advantage.
