CMA CGM is seeking a dynamic and analytical VIE Business Developer to support strategic business growth initiatives across the Tanzania Cluster. The role is responsible for identifying new business opportunities, conducting market and competitor analyses, supporting commercial activities, and driving business development projects that contribute to increased market share and revenue growth.
The successful candidate will work closely with sales teams, management, customers, government authorities, regional offices, and other stakeholders to strengthen CMA CGM’s position in the market. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain international exposure within the maritime, logistics, and transportation industry while contributing to innovative business development and product diversification initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Conduct market analysis to assess market size, customer trends, and CMA CGM market share within the Tanzania Cluster.
- Analyze customer operations and business needs to identify opportunities for upselling and cross-selling products and services.
- Perform competitor analysis and provide market intelligence to support commercial and strategic decisions.
- Monitor and evaluate overall Tanzania Cluster performance across agencies.
- Conduct market studies to identify emerging business opportunities and growth areas.
- Generate new business opportunities and contribute to revenue growth initiatives.
- Develop and implement business development projects, particularly inland logistics and supply chain solutions.
- Prepare comprehensive business cases and business plans for new initiatives and projects.
- Coordinate with local authorities and regulatory bodies to obtain approvals and support project implementation.
- Promote non-maritime products and services, including e-commerce solutions, value-added services (VAS), intermodal services, and logistics solutions.
- Support the promotion of CEVA Logistics products and services across target markets.
- Collaborate with the Reefer Sales Manager to expand the reefer and perishable cargo business portfolio.
- Monitor developments within regional and global reefer and perishable goods markets.
- Develop and implement product diversification strategies to strengthen market competitiveness.
- Participate in agency commercial meetings and present market intelligence and performance updates.
- Prepare periodic business performance reports for sales teams, local management, regional offices, and head office.
- Coordinate communication between Head Office, Regional Offices, shipping lines, and local agencies.
- Support the Commercial Manager and Sales Representatives in prioritizing and communicating operational instructions.
- Assist the Sales Manager in coordinating commercial and sales activities.
- Provide business development support to the Tanzania Cluster General Manager.
- Organize and participate in promotional events, exhibitions, and business networking activities.
- Promote CMA CGM maritime and non-maritime products and services across various customer segments.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, business partners, government authorities, and key stakeholders.
- Monitor industry trends and identify opportunities for continuous business improvement.
- Perform any other duties assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Business Administration, International Business, Marketing, Economics, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related business field.
- Candidates must be between 18 and 28 years of age.
- Must be a European Union national as required under the VIE program.
- Strong analytical and data interpretation skills.
- Knowledge of global and regional maritime trade developments.
- Understanding of logistics, shipping, supply chain, and transportation industries.
- Knowledge of reefer and perishable cargo markets is an added advantage.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Project and project management tools.
- Strong project planning and time management skills.
- Excellent presentation, reporting, and business writing abilities.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
- Negotiation and conflict management skills.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
