About the Role:

The System Administrator Intern will support the ICT team in maintaining and optimizing AfyaCall’s server infrastructure and communication systems.

The intern will assist in system monitoring, troubleshooting, and ensuring reliable operation of telephony and digital health platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in monitoring and maintaining Linux-based servers and system services.
  • Support configuration and maintenance of telephony systems (e.g., Asterisk PBX).
  • Help monitor system logs, performance, and uptime.
  • Assist in database backup and system maintenance tasks.
  • Support API integration, testing, and troubleshooting with internal and external systems.
  • Assist developers in diagnosing system and application-level issues.
  • Participate in documenting system configurations and operational procedures.

Requirements:

  • Basic knowledge of Linux operating systems.
  • Understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, ports, firewall basics).
  • Familiarity with databases such as Postgres/MySQL/MariaDB is an advantage.
  • Basic software development skills (Python, PHP, JavaScript, or similar).
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Willingness to learn system administration and infrastructure.
