The Senior VoIP Engineer will lead the design, deployment, and support of enterprise voice and unified communications solutions for multiple customer environments. The role requires deep expertise in SIP-based telephony, strong networking fundamentals, and advanced proficiency in Asterisk-based PBX platforms, including customization, integration, and troubleshooting.
Responsibilities or duties
1. Solution Design & Pre-Sales Support
- Design VoIP and UC solutions tailored to client requirements and SLAs
- Produce technical proposals, HLD/LLD documents, and BoQs
- Support pre-sales teams with demos, architecture validation, and solution sizing
2. Implementation & Integration
- Deploy and configure IP-PBX platforms, SIP trunks, gateways, SBCs, and IP phones
- Install and customize Asterisk PBX systems including dial plans, IVRs, queues, AGI scripts, and integrations
- Integrate VoIP with CRM, call recording, billing, or contact-center solutions
- Lead migrations from legacy PBX to IP telephony
3. Support & Troubleshooting
- Provide L3 support for customer voice environments
- Diagnose SIP signaling, codec negotiation, NAT traversal, and media issues
- Analyze packet captures and CDRs to resolve complex call problems
- Optimize QoS, latency, jitter, and bandwidth utilization
4. Customer & Vendor Coordination
- Interface with telecom operators, SIP providers, and equipment vendors
- Provide technical guidance to customers and internal teams
- Deliver handover documentation and customer training
5. Continuous Improvement
- Develop reusable deployment templates and automation scripts
- Recommend new UC technologies, cloud telephony, and hybrid solutions
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to knowledge base
Qualifications or requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Telecommunications, or related field
- 5+ years of VoIP engineering experience in service provider, integrator, or enterprise environment
- Strong hands-on expertise with Asterisk PBX administration and customization
- Deep understanding of SIP, RTP, codecs, NAT traversal, and call routing
- Solid networking skills (VLANs, routing, QoS, firewalls, VPNs)
- Experience with Linux server administration
Experience needed
Preferred Experience
- Contact center deployments and call recording systems
- SIP trunk integrations with multiple carriers
- SBC configuration and security hardening
- Cloud VoIP platforms and hybrid telephony models
- Scripting (Bash, Python, or similar) for automation
Preferred Certifications
- VoIP / UC vendor certifications
- Linux administration certifications
- Networking certifications
- Asterisk or open-source telephony training is a strong advantage

- Advanced VoIP troubleshooting and packet analysis
- Strong customer-facing and documentation skills
- Ability to manage multiple client projects simultaneously
- Problem-solving mindset and ownership of service delivery
