RADIOGRAPHER
Number of Posts: 2
Job Purpose
The Radiographer will provide safe, accurate, and timely diagnostic imaging services to patients while ensuring appropriate radiation protection, equipment care, patient safety, and professional standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive and prepare patients for radiographic examinations.
- Verify patient identity and examination requests before procedures.
- Explain imaging procedures to patients and provide appropriate reassurance.
- Perform radiographic examinations according to approved procedures and clinical requirements.
- Position patients correctly to obtain high-quality diagnostic images.
- Operate X-ray and other approved imaging equipment safely and effectively.
- Ensure appropriate radiation protection measures are followed.
- Apply the principles of radiation safety for patients, staff, and visitors.
- Evaluate images for technical quality and repeat examinations only where clinically justified.
- Maintain accurate patient and imaging records.
- Ensure imaging requests are properly documented and processed.
- Work closely with doctors and other healthcare professionals to support diagnosis and treatment.
- Monitor the condition and serviceability of radiology equipment.
- Report equipment faults and maintenance requirements promptly.
- Maintain cleanliness and infection prevention standards within imaging areas.
- Handle patients requiring special assistance with care and dignity.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information and diagnostic results.
- Participate in quality assurance and departmental audits.
- Follow hospital policies, professional standards, and applicable radiation safety regulations.
- Participate in emergency and on-call services where required.
- Perform other radiography-related duties assigned by hospital management.
Requirements
- Diploma or degree in Radiography or an equivalent recognised qualification.
- Valid registration with the relevant professional regulatory authority in Tanzania.
- Valid practising licence.
- Relevant experience in a hospital or diagnostic imaging facility is an advantage.
- Knowledge of radiation protection and patient safety procedures.
- Ability to operate and maintain radiographic equipment appropriately.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and strong commitment to patient care.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
