Position: Purchasing Manager
Department: Purchasing Department
Location: Riu Hotels and Resorts, Zanzibar
About The Role
We are seeking an analytical, proactive, and results-driven Purchasing Manager to head our procurement department in Zanzibar. You will oversee the complete purchasing lifecycle for food and non-food items, optimize hotel financial performance, maintain standard cost controls, and ensure high-quality supplier standards across our Zanzibar properties.
Responsibilities or duties
- Reporting & Corporate Alignment: Report directly to the Regional Corporate Purchasing Manager, ensuring local purchasing operations align fully with global corporate guidelines.
- Tender Creation & Analysis: Prepare, launch, and manage procurement tenders for food and non-food items. Conduct preliminary supplier comparisons which will be analysed with the corporate department team for final approval.
- Lead Procurement Operations: Direct all daily purchasing. Sourcing for food and non-food items to meet company standards and monitor compliance for procurement contracts. Prevent operational disruptions for all contracted items.
- Standard Costing & Variance Analysis: Manage standard pricing models. Analyse monthly price and deviations to identify cost variances, track supplier compliance, and protect operational margins.
- Team Leadership: Guide and motivate a high-performing procurement team, nurturing talent and maintaining high morale in a fast-paced resort environment.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other departments to anticipate supply needs and maintain seamless resort operations.
Qualifications or requirements
- Core Competencies: high attention to detail, methodical work style, leadership, and ability to anticipate supply risks.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Language Skills: Fluent in English (written and spoken).
