Background

Dar es Salaam Independent School is seeking a qualified and enthusiastic Physics & Mathematics Teacher to join its academic team for the 2026/2027 academic year. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in Physics and Mathematics within the IGCSE and A-Level curriculum while supporting students in achieving academic excellence and developing critical thinking skills.

The role requires a dedicated educator who can create an engaging, inclusive, and student-centered learning environment. The successful candidate will contribute to the school’s academic objectives through effective teaching, assessment, mentorship, and active participation in co-curricular activities and school programs.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver high-quality Physics and Mathematics lessons in accordance with the IGCSE and A-Level curriculum.
• Develop lesson plans, schemes of work, and teaching resources that support effective learning outcomes.
• Assess, monitor, and evaluate student academic performance and progress.
• Design and administer assignments, tests, practical assessments, and examinations.
• Provide constructive feedback to support student improvement and achievement.
• Maintain accurate records of student attendance, assessments, and academic performance.
• Prepare academic reports and communicate student progress to parents and school management.
• Create a positive, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages active participation.
• Promote critical thinking, analytical reasoning, and problem-solving skills among students.
• Ensure effective classroom management and maintain appropriate student discipline.
• Conduct practical demonstrations and laboratory activities in compliance with safety standards where applicable.
• Support students in preparation for IGCSE and A-Level examinations.
• Participate actively in co-curricular activities, school events, and extracurricular programs.
• Collaborate with colleagues to enhance curriculum delivery and academic standards.
• Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development activities.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the academic department.
• Promote the school’s values, policies, and educational objectives.
• Perform any other duties assigned by school management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Physics, Mathematics, Education, or a related field.
• Professional teaching qualification from a recognized institution.
• Experience teaching Physics and Mathematics within the IGCSE and A-Level curriculum.
• Master’s Degree in the relevant field will be an added advantage.
• Strong understanding of international curriculum requirements and assessment methodologies.
• Excellent classroom management skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Experience in lesson planning, assessment, and academic reporting.
• Ability to work effectively in a multicultural educational environment.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.

General Conditions

The position is based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

Employment is offered on a full-time basis for the 2026/2027 academic year.
