Background

Stanbic Bank Tanzania is inviting applications from qualified and innovative professionals for the position of Officer, Operational Excellence based in Dar es Salaam. The bank is seeking a highly analytical and technology-driven individual capable of supporting operational efficiency initiatives, process automation, data governance, and continuous improvement activities within the organization.

The Officer, Operational Excellence will be responsible for supporting automation projects, improving operational processes, coordinating data governance activities, and assisting in maintaining data quality standards across the bank. The successful candidate will contribute to process optimization, data management, and technology-driven improvements that support business performance and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

• Support identification, analysis, design, and implementation of automation initiatives
• Assist in continuous improvement and operational excellence projects
• Coordinate and facilitate Data Governance Council agenda and activities
• Support establishment and maintenance of data quality standards
• Drive adherence to data quality standards and continuous improvement initiatives
• Coordinate and maintain the organization’s Data Dictionary
• Support implementation and adherence to Data Policies
• Conduct process flow assessments and efficiency reviews
• Assist in process improvement and software engineering initiatives
• Support data integration activities including ETL and automated dataset creation
• Develop and maintain visualizations and dashboards using PowerBI
• Support applications development and technology enhancement projects
• Participate in project management and operational improvement initiatives
• Monitor emerging technologies and support innovation within operational processes

Qualifications

• First Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Data Management, Project Management, or related field
• Knowledge and experience in Data Integration, ETL, and automated dataset creation
• Experience in data visualization tools such as PowerBI
• Understanding of applications development and software engineering concepts
• Knowledge of project management methodologies
• Lean or Six Sigma experience is an added advantage
• Strong data analysis and interpretation skills
• Knowledge of continuous process improvement practices
• Good understanding of IT systems and emerging technologies
• Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills
• Ability to generate ideas and support operational innovation initiatives
