Programme Background
The MIT Development Programme is a structured development programme that guides the MIT's learning pathway from graduate to manager.
The programme is intended to:
- Introduce MITs to the Sugar Industry and KSCL.
- Provide MITs with the technical, leadership, and business exposure required to become managers in their respective fields of expertise within KSCL.
- Develop technical competencies relevant to KSCL in areas such as Engineering, Agriculture, and Commercial functions.
- Prepare participants for appointment to a permanent position upon successful completion of the programme.
- Develop competent leaders with a strong practical foundation who can make a significant contribution to achieving company objectives and supporting the company's future growth.
Programme Objectives
The MIT Development Programme aims to:
- Support the transition of MITs from academic institutions into the professional working environment.
- Connect MITs with people across the business.
- Develop technical proficiency, business acumen, and leadership skills.
- Measure individual progress against identified and clearly defined outcomes.
- Provide guided learning where expected outcomes are established while allowing flexibility within a structured learning framework.
- Provide developmental reviews designed to address identified knowledge and skills gaps.
- Encourage continuous improvement and create a feedback loop that allows fresh and innovative thinking to contribute to the business.
Key Skills and Competencies
Candidates should demonstrate:
- Effective communication skills in both English and Swahili.
- Leadership skills.
- Strong organisational skills.
- Creativity and innovation.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Strong desire to learn and adapt to new concepts.

- BSc in Agricultural Engineering and Mechanization or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
