Responsibilities
• Provide a daily news summary circulated by local mass media (Radio and TV, newspapers, press conferences, and interviews.) Regional press (Newspapers, Radio and TV, Interviews, visits of Heads of States, etc.). International (Radio and TV, interviews, newspapers, etc).
• Assist in public relations and protocol services.
• Assist in library activities such as locating online journal articles, responding to reference queries and carrying out circulation tasks
• Assist in the planning and implementation of Mechanism’s public relations activities, including drafting social media messaging and researching archival material for supporting visuals.
• Assist in improving public awareness regarding access to unclassified records of the ICTR, ICTY and Mechanism
• Assist in providing general office support; responding to complex information requests and inquiries;
• Researches, compiles and presents basic information for use in the preparation and production of communications products/services.
• Other duties as assigned by the Associate Public Information Officer.

Education
• Candidates for internships in the External Relations section are required to be enrolled in, or have completed in the last 12 months, a relevant diploma/degree programme in communications, journalism, multimedia studies or similar. Knowledge of major social media platforms is required. Knowledge of photography and/or audio-visual production is an asset. Applicants must be computer literate in standard software applications.

• Candidates who could not apply earlier due to family responsibilities such as childcare, care for an elderly or sick family member, their own illness or who are attempting a career change or are re-entering the workforce will also be considered.

Responsibilities

Interns within MARS will have the opportunity to work on a variety of programmes and projects centred on archival and records management activities. Depending on the individual’s background, interests and the needs of the office, under the supervision of the Archivist, tasks may include the following:
• Assist in arrangement and description of archives.
• Assist in preservation of archives.
• Assist in creation of research guides.
• Assist in exhibition development and planning.
• Assist in other records and archives activities, as required.

Education
• Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent)
• Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or
• Have graduated with a university degree.
• A relevant diploma/degree programme in archival science, information management or related field is an asset.
