JOB DETAILS:

IRRIGATION ENGINEER

Job Purpose

To design, operate, maintain and optimise irrigation systems to ensure efficient and reliable water supply for agricultural production.

Key Duties

• Design and review irrigation systems.
• Assess water requirements and irrigation schedules.
• Monitor irrigation-system performance.
• Supervise installation and maintenance of irrigation infrastructure.
• Inspect pumps, pipes, valves, sprinklers and other components.
• Develop water-use plans.
• Monitor water consumption and efficiency.
• Troubleshoot irrigation faults.
• Coordinate irrigation teams and contractors.
• Ensure compliance with applicable water and environmental requirements.
• Prepare technical reports and irrigation plans.
• Recommend improvements to increase water-use efficiency.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Irrigation Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Water Engineering or related discipline.
• Relevant professional registration where applicable.
• Practical experience in agricultural irrigation systems is preferred.

Experience in Months: 12

Level of Education: bachelor degree
