Job Purpose:

To operate the Hilo spiller safely and efficiently to ensure smooth unloading of cane from trailers onto the feeder table, while maintaining equipment integrity, reporting mechanical deviations, and supporting maintenance activities as required.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

• Carefully lift the rig bar to spill cane onto the feeder table while maintaining operational control and safety.
• Monitor the spilling process to avoid spillage, equipment overload, or unsafe conditions.
• Return the rig bar to its designated resting position on the trailer after cane unloading is completed.
• Continuously monitor equipment performance during operation.
• Immediately report all mechanical defects, abnormal noises, leakages, or unsafe conditions to the Station Supervisor
• Comply with all plant safety rules, lock-out/tag-out procedures, and operational standards.Maintain good housekeeping around the spiller operating area.
• Always use prescribed PPE during operation and maintenance activities.
• Ensure proper lubrication of the spiller sling wire and report any lack of lubrication or abnormal condition to the supervisor
• Inspect and verify the tightness of foundation bolts of the cane spiller and promptly report any looseness or abnormalities to the Station Supervisor.
• Check the lubrication oil level in the gearbox and report any deviation from the recommended level.
• Ensure proper lubrication of the spiller sling wire and report any lack of lubrication or abnormal condition to the supervisor.

Job Requirements:

• Form IV with vocational training in fitter mechanics or Electrical from a recognized institution.
• A proven experience on working with Hilo spiller operator or crane operator is added advantage.
• Basic computer skills, particularly in data entry and using inventory or supply management systems.
• 2+ years’ experience working on the sugar industries
• Good communication skills

Terms of Services:

The successful candidate will be engaged on permanent contract.
