Job Summary

The HSE Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies and programs within renewable energy projects. This role ensures compliance with local and international HSE standards, promotes a proactive safety culture, and manages environmental and safety risks associated with wind, solar, hydro, and other renewable energy installations.

Key Responsibilities / Duties

  • Develop, implement, and maintain HSE policies, procedures, and programs aligned with local laws, ISO standards, and renewable energy best practices.
  • Conduct risk assessments, HSE audits, inspections, and incident investigations across project sites.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and corporate HSE requirements, including renewable-energy-specific safety standards.
  • Lead HSE training, awareness initiatives, and capacity-building programs for project personnel, contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Oversee reporting and documentation of incidents, near-misses, hazards, and unsafe conditions; implement corrective and preventive measures.
  • Collaborate with engineering, project management, and construction teams to ensure HSE integration during planning, execution, and commissioning stages.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture and environmental stewardship in all project operations.
  • Liaise with regulatory authorities, clients, and third-party auditors regarding HSE compliance and performance.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Must have a technical degree plus an international HSE diploma and a minimum of five (5) years experience as an HSE professional in solar projects or equivalent power plants/mega infrastructure works.
  • Certifications such as NEBOSHIOSH, or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of local and international HSE regulations, renewable energy standards, ISO 45001, and ISO 14001.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and lead HSE teams effectively.
