Job Purpose:
To provide comprehensive medical and surgical care to women, focusing on the female reproductive system. This includes pregnancy, childbirth, and disorders of the reproductive system. The role encompasses both obstetrics (care during pregnancy and childbirth) and gynecology (health of the female reproductive system).
Key Responsibilities:
- Routine Care: Perform routine annual exams, including Pap smears and breast exams, and provide family planning and contraceptive advice.
- Prenatal & Obstetric Care: Provide care to pregnant women, including prenatal check-ups, monitoring the health of the mother and fetus, managing high-risk pregnancies, and delivering babies.
- Diagnosis & Treatment: Diagnose and treat conditions of the female reproductive system, such as endometriosis, fibroids, cancers, STIs, and pelvic pain.
- Surgical Procedures: Perform surgical procedures, including hysterectomies, laparoscopies, cesarean sections (C-sections), and other gynecological surgeries.
- Screening & Prevention: Screen for and manage gynecological cancers and other diseases.
- Menopause Management: Provide care and treatment for women going through perimenopause and menopause.
- Patient Education: Educate patients on health, wellness, and disease prevention.
- Collaboration & Documentation: Work collaboratively with midwives, nurses, and other specialists. Maintain meticulous patient records.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Master of Medicine (MMed) in Obstetrics and Gynecology or equivalent recognized specialist qualification.
- Valid and active medical practicing license.
- Registration with the relevant national medical and dental practitioners council.
- Proven experience as a Gynecologist/OB-GYN.
- Strong surgical skills and the ability to make quick, sound decisions in high-pressure situations.
- Excellent bedside manner and the ability to build trust with patients.
- High level of professionalism and ethical standards.
