Background
Fema Mining And Drilling Limited is seeking qualified and experienced candidates to fill the position of Dewatering Supervisor (3 Positions) based in Geita. The company is committed to maintaining efficient and safe mining operations through effective water management systems and professional operational supervision within its open pit mining activities.
The Dewatering Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating all dewatering operations, including supervision of dewatering personnel, management of pumps and drainage systems, monitoring water levels, and ensuring operational efficiency and compliance with safety standards. The successful candidates will play a key role in supporting continuous mining production and maintaining safe working conditions.
Responsibilities
- Supervise daily pit dewatering activities
- Coordinate installation, relocation, and maintenance of pumps, pipelines, hoses, and generators
- Monitor pit water levels and drainage operations
- Minimize equipment downtime
- Plan manpower and equipment allocation
- Conduct inspections of pumps and electrical systems
- Coordinate preventive maintenance schedules
- Respond to breakdowns and flooding emergencies
- Supervise Dewatering Service Men and operators
- Provide technical guidance and training
- Conduct toolbox meetings and safety briefings
- Monitor discipline, productivity, and attendance
- Prepare shift schedules
- Enforce Health, Safety, and Environmental procedures
- Ensure PPE usage and safe work conditions
- Ensure environmental compliance regarding water discharge systems
- Report incidents and unsafe conditions immediately
- Maintain operational and maintenance reports
- Prepare performance reports for management
- Monitor equipment utilization and efficiency
- Coordinate with mining and maintenance departments
- Support achievement of production targets
Qualifications
- Minimum qualification of Form Four Certificate (O-Level)
- Certificate, Diploma, or Advanced Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Mining Engineering, Pump Operations, Heavy Equipment Maintenance, or related technical field
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in dewatering operations, mining operations, or pump management
- Supervisory experience of at least 1 year is an added advantage
- Open pit mining experience is highly preferred
- Strong knowledge of dewatering systems, pumps, generators, pipelines, and water management systems
- Leadership and supervisory skills
- Problem-solving abilities
- Good communication and reporting skills
- Knowledge of mining safety standards
- Computer literacy is an added advantage
- Fluency in Kiswahili and basic English communication skills
