Responsibilities or duties
As Chief Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance and engineering operations in Riu Jambo Zanzibar. You will lead a team of professionals to ensure that all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems operate efficiently while maintaining the highest safety and quality standards.
- Supervise and coordinate all maintenance operations, ensuring efficiency and reliability of equipment.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to extend asset lifespan.
- Ensure compliance with local regulations and RIU Hotels & Resorts standards.
- Manage the engineering team, providing leadership, training, and support.
- Oversee energy management strategies to optimize consumption and reduce costs.
- Work closely with other departments to ensure seamless hotel operations.
- Prepare reports, budgets, and maintenance plans for short- and long-term projects.
- Coordinate with external contractors for repairs, renovations, and inspections.
- Ensure all health and safety protocols are met to provide a safe environment for guests and staff.
Qualifications or requirements
- Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field).
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire safety systems.
- Experience with energy efficiency strategies and sustainability practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and maintenance management software.
- Ability to lead a team, problem-solve, and work under pressure.
- Spoken and written English.
Experience needed
Proven experience as a Chief Engineer or senior maintenance role in the hospitality industry.
