Dar es Salaam Independent School is seeking a qualified and dedicated Chemistry & Biology Teacher to join its academic team for the 2026/2027 academic year. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in Chemistry and Biology within the IGCSE and A-Level curriculum while supporting students' academic growth and overall development.

Responsibilities or duties

• Prepare and deliver high-quality Chemistry and Biology lessons in accordance with the IGCSE and A-Level curriculum.
• Develop lesson plans, schemes of work, and instructional materials that support effective learning.
• Assess, monitor, and evaluate students’ academic progress and performance.
• Design and administer assignments, tests, practical assessments, and examinations.
• Provide constructive feedback to students to support continuous improvement.
• Maintain accurate records of student attendance, assessments, and academic performance.
• Prepare academic reports and communicate student progress to parents and school management.
• Create a positive, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment that promotes student participation.
• Support students in developing critical thinking, scientific inquiry, and problem-solving skills.
• Ensure effective classroom management and maintain appropriate student discipline.
• Organize and supervise laboratory practical sessions in accordance with safety procedures.
• Participate actively in co-curricular activities, school events, and extracurricular programs.
• Collaborate with fellow teachers and academic staff to enhance curriculum delivery and student achievement.
• Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development activities.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of teaching practices and academic standards.
• Promote the school’s values, policies, and educational objectives.
• Perform any other duties assigned by school management.

Qualifications or requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Biology, Education, or a related field.
• Professional teaching qualification from a recognized institution.
• Experience teaching Chemistry and Biology within the IGCSE and A-Level curriculum.
• Master’s Degree in the relevant field will be an added advantage.
• Strong knowledge of international curriculum standards and assessment practices.
• Excellent classroom management skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to prepare engaging and effective lesson plans.
• Experience in student assessment, monitoring, and academic reporting.
