Job Purpose:

To develop, implement, and monitor environmental management plans related to flora, rehabilitation, and biodiversity, ensuring compliance with environmental permits and commitments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct baseline and ongoing flora and vegetation surveys.
  • Develop and monitor mine rehabilitation and closure plans.
  • Identify, map, and manage invasive alien plant species.
  • Collect and analyze environmental samples (soil, water, plants) as required.
  • Prepare detailed technical reports for internal and regulatory purposes.
  • Advise operational teams on minimizing vegetation clearing and soil erosion.
  • Supervise contractor work related to rehabilitation (e.g., planting, erosion control).
  • Ensure compliance with all conditions of the Environmental Management Plan (EMP).
  • Promote environmental awareness among employees.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Botany, Environmental Science, Ecology, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in an environmental role, with direct experience in mining, construction, or consulting preferred.
  • Experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is highly advantageous.
  • Strong fieldwork skills and ability to work in rugged terrain.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for reporting.
