The Key Purpose of this role
The Key Purpose of this role is to maintain, repair, optimize, and safely operate packaging plant equipment and associated devices to ensure maximum plant availability, consistent product quality, and cost-effective production while adhering to company standards, safety requirements, and continuous improvement practices.
Responsibilities or duties
Plant Maintenance and Equipment Reliability
- Maintain, repair, and optimize plant equipment and associated devices to ensure operational efficiency and reliability.
- Locate and utilize plant equipment, spare parts, technical documentation, and relevant maintenance systems.
- Perform planned, preventative, and corrective maintenance activities.
- Identify equipment faults, defects, or potential failures through routine inspections, plant walkabouts, and maintenance schedules.
- Ensure machines and equipment remain in good working order at all times.
- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical and operational issues to minimize downtime.
Packaging Operations
- Safely operate packaging machines in accordance with operating procedures and safety standards.
- Start up, monitor, control, and shut down packaging equipment effectively.
- Monitor production processes to ensure products meet quality specifications and production targets.
- Maintain optimum machine performance to achieve productivity and cost-efficiency goals.
- Carry out routine machine checks and adjustments to ensure consistent product quality.
Continuous Improvement
- Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance plant, process equipment, and system performance.
- Identify opportunities to optimize production processes, reduce waste, and improve equipment efficiency.
- Apply VPO (Voyager Plant Optimization) principles and practices to improve operational excellence.
Health, Safety, and Quality
- Maintain a safe, healthy, and environmentally compliant working environment.
- Adhere to all health, safety, food safety, quality, and company standards.
- Report unsafe conditions, incidents, or potential risks promptly.
- Ensure compliance with workplace safety procedures and operational standards.
Documentation and Housekeeping
- Complete maintenance, operational, and production documentation accurately and on time.
- Record machine performance, maintenance activities, and production information as required.
- Apply and maintain 5S workplace organization principles to ensure a clean, safe, and efficient work environment.

- Exposure to preventative maintenance systems and continuous improvement methodologies will be advantageous.
- Knowledge of manufacturing and packaging processes.
