We are currently seeking a competent and detail-oriented Accountant to join our Finance team.
Role Summary
The Accountant will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day financial operations and providing critical financial support to Senior Management. The role will involve financial data analysis, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cost control specific to construction, electrical, and telecom projects to support sound business decisions and ensure financial integrity.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Analysis: Analyze financial data and prepare timely, accurate reports for management review.
Budgeting & Costing: Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and cost analysis for construction, electrical, and telecom projects.
Project Financial Control: Monitor and evaluate the financial performance of ongoing projects and flag variances.
Strategic Support: Provide insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making and profitability.
Compliance: Ensure full compliance with TRA, company policies, and Tanzanian regulatory requirements.
Tax Management: Manage and ensure timely compliance with all tax obligations including SDL, PAYE, VAT, Withholding Tax, and Corporate Tax.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Liaise effectively with project teams, consultants, and other stakeholders on financial matters.
Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for cost reduction, efficiency gains, and strengthening of internal controls.
Audit & Controls: Support internal and external audits and ensure implementation of robust internal control systems.
Financial Statements: Prepare complete set of financial statements and management analysis for shareholders and Board.
Industry Awareness: Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and changes in construction, electrical, and telecom finance regulations.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from a recognized institution.
Professional Certification: CPA(T), ACCA, or equivalent is a strong advantage.
Experience: Minimum 3 years’ proven experience in accounting, with exposure to the Construction and/or Telecom industry preferred.
Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial analysis.
- Proven experience in budgeting, forecasting, and cost analysis for projects.
- Proficiency in accounting/ERP software and Advanced MS Excel.
Core Competencies:
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- High level of accuracy, integrity, and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
