Background

Canuck Company Ltd is a company incorporated in Tanzania specialized in mining and processing activities. Canuck Co. Ltd is looking for an experienced and highly motivated Accountant who will perform all Finance activities and tasks assigned by Finance and Accounts manager.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities

  • Preparing financial documents such as invoices, bills, and accounts payable and receivable.
  • File annual taxes and other required documents and keep up with the changes in laws that affect an organization’s operation both internally and with customers.
  • Managing a team of 5 Subordinates.
  • Monthly reporting on debtors and creditors and other ad hoc reports.
  • Ensure WCF, NSSF, PAYE and other statutory requirements are adhered to.
  • Completing financial reports on a regular basis and providing information to the finance head.
  • Maintaining Fixed Asset register.
  • Supervising store operations.
  • Stock reconciliation with stores team every three months.
  • Coordinating internal and external audits.
  • Verifying balances in account books and rectifying discrepancies.
  • Managing day-to-day transactions and any paperwork filing.
  • Managing petty cash.
  • Assisting the finance department and Finance Head with various tasks, including preparing of budgets, monthly reports, and statements.
  • Posting daily receipts/payments.
  • Managing monthly budgeting tasks.
  • Sorting financial documents and posting them to the proper accounts.
  • Resolving errors in financial reports and correcting faulty reporting methods.
  • Doing any other duties as instructed by the Finance and Accounts Head.

Required Education and Experience

  • Successful candidate must have a Bachelor Degree in Accounts/Finance or related field with at least 3-4 years of relevant work experience.
  • Previous accounting/Stores experience in a merchandising firm is desired.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Experience to work and interact with TRA shall be an added advantage.
  • Accuracy and attention to details.
  • Excellent leadership, Interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Fluent in English and Swahili.
  • Excellent computer skills and experience in the use of any Accounting/Inventory management system, Tally System is a MUST.
