Background information about the job or company (e.g., role context, company overview),
This is a Medical Officer II position at Wakala wa Usalama na Afya Mahali pa Kazi (OSHA). There are 5 positions available.
Responsibilities or duties,
- To carry out general walk through workplace inspections for the purpose of the establishment of compliance status;
- To carry out Fitness to work medical examinations and recommend remedial measures for identified problems;
- To provide inputs in the preparation of Business plan, Strategic plan and other policy formulation in relation to medical issues;
- To prepare and submit reports timely;
- To prepare articles and manuals on Occupational Health;
- To maintain records and provide written and verbal reports as required;
- To prepare OHS medical surveillance reports;
- To plan and implement specific occupational health programmes;
- To keep records of Inspections;
- To provide input for occupational health surveys and researches;
- To interpret scientific data collected during investigations and recommend appropriate control methods;
- To conduct follow up inspections to ensure corrective measures have been implemented;
- To review documents from workplace;
- To assist in the carrying out of statutory medical examination (Pre- employment, periodic, exit and special);
- To provide counselling on health issues, poly substance abuse;
- To assist/facilitate OHS training;
- To carry out health impact assessment;
- To carry out occupational health surveys and researches;
- To review existing and current Occupational safety and health literature; and
- Performing any other related duties as may be assigned a supervisor.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills),
- Doctor of medicine degree from a recognized Institution plus successful completion of internship period of one year and has a provisional registration as a Medical Officer from Tanganyika Medical Council.
Experience needed,
One year internship period is required.
