Geita Gold Mining Ltd (GGML) is Tanzania’s leading gold producer with a single operation in Geita Region. POSITION Specialist Trainer- Underground Equipment
DEPARTMENT Underground Mining/ Underground Mine Training

OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE
The primary purpose of the role is to train and assess GGML underground employees on Jumbo (Drift drill rig), in addition the role requires developing other existing drill rig operators by coaching and providing job training to achieve the advanced operator level.
Also, the role holder will provide on-the-job training and coaching to Underground Shift Bosses and Shift Trainers on how to observe safety and equipment OEM standards while achieving production targets. The role holder will also coach the national trainers to achieve specialist skills.
ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Train and assess GGML employees on Jumbo
- Develop other existing drill rig operators (Jumbo/Drift Drill, Cable bolter, Solo/ Long-hole Drill, & In-The-Hole Drill/ITH Drill) by cooperating with other trainers to coach and provide on the job training to achieve the advanced operator level.
- Provide on-the-job training and coaching to Underground Shift Bosses and Shift Trainers on how to observe safety and equipment OEM standards while achieving production targets.
- Coach the national trainers to achieve specialist skills
- Develop and review comprehensive training modules and plans for a wide range of underground mine equipment to be used for training purposes to meet business needs.
- Review and enforce the company Training calendar along with underground Training Matrix schedule.
- Implement training plans for trainees and identify national successors and provide regular feedback on their progress.
- Prepare training report on the progress of the trainees and identify national successors on-the-job development.
- Abide by Training Golden Roles and Ethical behaviors all times and in everything you do
- Provide advice on continuous improvement but no authority to make any change to Underground mine training
- Coordinate and administer drilling equipment training as per available training Matrix
- Monitor and control all training activities for Underground Drilling Equipment section
- Conduct skill gap analysis to operators
- Create and execute training plans to close the operator’s skill gap
- Advice on proper use of equipment as per OEM standards to achieve production targets
- Compliance with Tanzania Labor Act, AGA and GGM HR policies on training and development
People’s Accountabilities:
- Train and assess GGML employees on Jumbo
- Develop other existing drill rig operators (Jumbo/Drift Drill, Cable bolter, Solo/ Long-hole Drill, & In-The-Hole Drill/ITH Drill) by coaching and providing on the job training to achieve the advanced operator level

ROLE REQUIREMENTS
Education & Qualification
- A recognized training and assessment certificate.
- Recognized certificate on Jumbo (Sandvik DD421 or higher models) operation
- A recognized certificate on completion of secondary (or above) education
- Certificate in underground mine blasting from any recognized institute
- Certificate on Cable bolter (Sandvik) and In-The-Hole (ITH) operation may be an added advantage
Experience, Knowledge and Skills
- At least 8+ years of operating the Jumbo for mechanical scaling, installation of ground support and boring (on development drive, strip, inclines, and declines) in different underground mine
- At least 2 years’ experience of working as a Jumbo trainer, shift trainer or on the job coacher
- Any experience on charging and blasting activities for underground mine (development)
- Considerable knowledge of underground mining operations to achieve production targets
- Any experience of leadership or supervision
- A good experience of working with people from different nations with different cultures with good behavior records.
- Experience of operating Cable bolter and In-The-Hole (ITH) may be an added advantage
- Valid driving license with class B/D and G/F or international equivalent license
- Licensed/certified Jumbo operator.
- Tanzanian Legislative and regulatory compliance
- Jumbo Operation as per OEM standard to achieve production targets
- Reading and interpreting Mine Instruction and geotechnical designs or plans
- Performing basic/operator maintenance on Jumbo
- Driving a manual transmission vehicle (Toyota) in underground environment
- Charging and blasting in underground mine (development)

- Fluent in spoken and written English language
- Capable of writing reports by using M/S word and M/S excel
- Capable of presenting a report using M/s power point
- Good Communication skills and emotional intelligence
