JOB DETAILS:
Background
ITM Tanzania is seeking a Senior Mechanic – Tractor & Heavy Machinery to join their Workshop / Maintenance department. This role reports to the Workshop Supervisor and supervises Junior Mechanics and Helpers.
Job Purpose
Perform advanced diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on tractors and heavy machinery to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair engine, transmission, hydraulic, and electrical faults on tractors and heavy equipment.
- Conduct preventive maintenance services (oil changes, filters, greasing, adjustments).
- Overhaul engines, gearboxes, and hydraulic systems as required.
- Guide and train junior mechanics and helpers.
- Complete job cards and report parts used and time spent.
- Test-run machines after repair to confirm functionality.
- Ensure safe use of tools, equipment, and workshop premises.
- Recommend improvements to maintenance schedules.
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma in Automotive/Mechanical Engineering or recognized trade certification.
- 5+ years' hands-on experience with tractors and heavy machinery (Case, Massey Ferguson, Sonalika, Mahindra, JCB, CAT, etc.).
- Valid driver's license (added advantage).

- Advanced mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical diagnostics
- Ability to read technical manuals and schematics
